Reasonable Accommodation Program (RAP) - Practice Directive

Practice Directive 445 outlines the University's procedures and guidelines for providing reasonable accommodation and support services to qualified individuals with disabilities—both students and employees—in compliance with federal and state laws (e.g., ADA, Section 504) and CSU system policy (e.g., Executive Order 1111).

Updated Structure – Effective July 1, 2024

As of July 1, 2024, responsibilities for processing accommodation requests have been formally divided between the following offices:

For Students:   Disability Programs and Resource Center (DPRC) Division of Student Affairs

Applies to:

  • Enrolled undergraduate, graduate, and non-matriculated students
  • Requests for academic modifications, housing accommodations, auxiliary aids, classroom or assessment accommodation, and other access-related support
  • Visit DPRC Website at Disability Programs and Resource Center (DPRC)
  • Student Accommodation Request – DPRC

For EmployeesEmployee Accommodations Services (EAS)Human Resources

Applies to:

  • Faculty, staff, administrators, and other eligible employees
  • Requests for employment-related accommodation, such as modified duties, ergonomic/workstation adjustments, schedule modifications, or leave-related support
  • Visit EAS Website at Employee Accommodations Services (EAS)
  • Employee Accommodation Request – EAS

Additional Information

This directive does not override or replace:

  • Collective bargaining agreements (CBAs)
  • Campus policies such as leave, health and safety, or return-to-work protocols
  • CSU system-wide policies and executive orders
