Jury Duty
Employees who are summoned for jury duty are eligible for paid jury duty leave for the days they are required to report for service. On-call jurors who are not required to report are not eligible for paid jury duty leave. The CSU will continue your regular salary while you are on jury duty, regardless of the length of service.
What To Do When You Receive a Jury Summons:
- Notify your supervisor as soon as you receive your jury summons.
- Inform your supervisor in advance of any assigned jury duty days.
- Provide a copy of the Certificate of Jury Service upon request and copy Payroll@sfsu.edu.
- Report “Jury Duty” by logging into https://gateway.sfsu.edu and selecting the HR Self-Service icon.
Employees called to serve in superior court, whether for civil or criminal cases, may receive mileage reimbursement directly from the court.
Employees serving during their regular work hours may continue to receive their full CSU salary. However, if the court issues a daily jury duty fee, that fee must be remitted to the CSU. Mileage and other travel reimbursements do not need to be returned.
